For Grace, the search for a more quiet and genteel pace as compared to the energized southern vibe of Charleston has steered her to the Beaufort/Bluffton area and landed her on Callawassie Island where she and her husband located that “just right” home in that “just right” community for them. Surrounded by water on Callawassie Island, they enjoy the inclusive social setting and environmentally conscious community with great friends while pursuing myriad personal interests. Like so many, it was love at first sight when the crossed the causeway onto the island. Callawassie Island and the Lowcountry provide Joe and Grace with the perfect setting to host frequent visits by their seven children and a growing roster of grandchildren as well as friends from around the country.
